Outsell’s Annual Food Drive for Joyce Uptown Foodshelf

FoodDrive2013

It’s that time of year again to be thankful for all we have and to give what we can, so once again Outsell partnered with the Joyce Uptown Food Shelf for our annual food drive. This has been one of our biggest fundraisers (and competitions) and some of the most fun we have each year.

Each Outsell Associate is assigned to a team associated with one of our charitable partners, and each team’s goal is to donate as many items by the deadline as they can. All items for each team were counted yesterday to crown the winner. That team’s charity will receive a $250 holiday donation, and the team itself will be treated to drinks from Mike Wethington.

Final Counts:

Bridges to Learning: 88
Boys & Girls Club : 219
The Humane Society: 292
ASPCA: 459
Make a Wish: 491
Feed My Starving Children: 973

Congrats to the Feed My Starving Children team for such an impressive number; however, as they were a team made up of senior leadership, they are not eligible for the prize (we’re pretty sure they cheat anyway). Therefore, team Make a Wish will receive a $250 check for their charity and free drinks on Mike.

The Joyce Uptown Foodshelf was overwhelmed and very appreciative of “what Outsell did again this year to stock our shelves.” Becky, the program manager, said we donated 2,952 pounds of food. They were actually coming into a shortage from Thanksgiving pick-ups so our donation was very timely and more than fulfilled the needs of the community during this Christmas season.

And thanks again to all who participated! Look forward to more from the Caring Committee in 2014!
